Calling operations are continuing in north western KPK Province and southern Sindh Province with our two implementing partners, Pakistani NGOs Youth Resources Center (YRC) and Hope and Transformation for Poverty (HTP).

In total, from August 20th to September 8th, calls were offered to 10,214 affected families.

In country since August 9th, an ICT TSF staff provided support from August 18th to the 25th to OCHA/UNDAC and the other UN agencies in the inter-agency office in Multan, Punjab Province. This assignment ended when the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster and other OCHA partners (IHP) took over.

TSF, in collaboration with the local NGO Youth Resources Center (YRC), started on Friday calling operations in KPK Province (the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

In country since August 9th, a team member from TSF deployed this evening in Multan, Province of Punjab to provide ICT support to the newly set up inter-agency office. This is the base and coordinating centre for OCHA and the UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination teams among many of other UN agencies such as WFP, FAO and UNDP. This assignment is expected to last for a week.

TSF Headquarters, August 4th, 2009 - On May 18th, TSF deployed to Pakistan to respond to the emergency in the North Western Frontier Province. Over 2 million people have been displaced since the latest outbreak of the conflict between the Pakistani army and the Taliban last April.

TSF partnered with a local NGO called Youth Resources Center (YRC) and trained on site 20 local employees for its humanitarian calling operations.

Le 10 juin, TSF quittait le Pakistan après que notre chef de mission Oisin Walton a été blessé dans l'attentat à la bombe perpétré dans l'hôtel international Pearl Continental de Peshawar.

Pau, 31 October 2008 - Reacting to the 6.5 earthquake in Pakistan Télécoms Sans Frontières deployed a team of emergency telecommunications specialist on Friday. TSF's team which includes a volunteer of the Asian Institute of Technology took off from its Asian base in Bangkok and will land in the capital Islamabad tonight local time to be deployed to the affected Province of Balotchistan as soon as possible.

According to local sources, phones lines have been cut off.

Centre Télécoms Satellitaire pour les secours

A Muzaffarabad, capitale du Cachemire Pakistanais, à peine à 50 Kms de l'épicentre du séisme, Télécoms Sans Frontières a établi un Centre Télécoms pour les secours depuis le 10 octobre, soit moins de 48 heures après le séisme.

En moyenne, une vingtaine d'organismes par jour utilisent les connexions Internet et lignes téléphoniques et fax mise à disposition pour plus de 100 Mo échangés.

In order to respond to the enormous demand for telecommunications from rescuers and the stricken population; TSF deployed another team on Saturday October 15th, from its France based-headquarters, equipped with extra equipment to reinforce the teams already on site.

According to authorities of Pakistan over 30 000 and witnesses in mountain zones where the worst news are arriving said entire villages were destroyed and roads were cut slowing rescue teams.
