One of the NGOs, the Pakistan Human Development Foundation (PHDF), organized an awareness-raising campaign in southern Punjab Province, where women and girls in some rural communities have traditionally been barred from public space.

A group of provincial ministers from Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab, agreed at its inaugural meeting 8 April to develop and implement a national strategy to ensure the elimination of discrimination against women, and signed a joint declaration outlining its overall goals.
