Highlights

  • Cluster plans to extend education services to 204,000 children in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in 2016.

  • At the end of June 2016, the Education cluster reached 98,244 children (of which 46,500 girls) in camps, offcamps, and in areas of return.

  • Cluster members trained 1,584 teachers of which 596 female teachers.

  • Psychosocial sessions were conducted for 9,796 children in IDP hosting areas and areas of return: 4,443 girls and 5,353 boys.

Highlights

The Education Cluster planned to support the education of 204,000 children of which 93,840 girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA during 2016.

By March 2016, the cluster managed to reach 51,952 children including 20,678 girls in camps, off-camps and in areas of return in KP and FATA.

The Education Cluster is developing a monsoon contingency plan 2016 for effective and efficient humanitarian preparedness and response.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An inter-Cluster assessment mission was conducted to Ladha, Sararogha,
Sarwakai, and Tiarza Tehsils South Waziristan Agency (SWA) from 10 to 13 February 2016. The mission visited eight recently de-notified villages. The Government plans to facilitate the return of some 30,000 IDPs to these areas.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An inter-Cluster assessment mission was conducted to Mir Ali Tehsil in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) from 26–29 January 2016. The mission covered a sample of six out of the ten villages that were recently de-notified by authorities. The Government has planned to facilitate the return of some 5,000 to 7,000 families to these areas.

Key findings

• An estimated 10 per cent of private houses were damaged due conflict and 1.5 years of weather damage.

Highlights

  • Education cluster provided Education in Emergency services to 104,551 children ( 41,330 female ) in 2015 .

  • Some 1,210 teachers including 493 female teachers trained on various topics including psychosocial support, classroom management and mobilization of parents for enrolment of IDs in schools.

  • 4,977 members of Parents Teachers Council were trained on roles and responsibilities including 2,058 female members.

Highlights

  • Education cluster members reached to 53,338 children including 21,129 girls and 32,209 boys in camps off camps and areas of return.

  • Education cluster KP/FATA agreed to established working group on psychosocial social support. This group will standardize training package for psychosocial social support which can be further adopted by cluster members

  • Educating cluster members trained 1,109 teachers including 549 female in camp off camp and areas of return.

Highlights

North Waziristan Dispclment :

  • In total, 35,382 children (girls: 12,556, boys: 22,860) benefited under Education in Emergencies program.

Complex Emergency in KP FATA :

  • By December 2014, Cluster members provided education services to 33,345 children (17,693 girls) in camps, host communities and in areas of return.

  • Cluster members trained 2,063 PTC/TIJ members (995 females) and 984 teachers (477 female) to improve their capacity on various topics.

Highlights

  • In the wake of new displacement from North Waziristan Agency, The Education Cluster plans to reach 82,000 (40%) displaced children (age group 3-18 years) with education services.

  • The Education Cluster meeting held on 17th July 2014, and chaired by Education Minister, Secretary and Additional Secretary, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, endorsed the Education Cluster Plan for the NWA displaced children.

  • Resource mobilization efforts show encouraging signs to muster support for the Education Cluster Plan.
