Migrant workers flee Libya

Libya has become a land of turmoil for the more than 376,000 people who have recently fled to Egypt, Tunisia and other nearby countries. Most of those fleeing are migrant workers, like Faruk, a Bangladeshi construction worker who spent his last 20 days in Libya unable to leave and unable to find food. "Everything shut down," he says.

When they were able to leave, many did so with no money, no possessions and no hope of finding jobs when they return to their homelands.

Islamabad 24 March: On the instructions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, to express solidarity and share the grief of the People and Government of Japan in wake of the devastating tsunami, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) dispatched two C-130 aircrafts toady carrying 24 metric tons of urgently needed food items to Japan. The humanitarian cargo included 13.5 tons of High Energy Biscuits, 9 tons (7200 liters) of Milk and 1.5 tons (500 bottles) of clean Drinking Water. The Acting Chairman NDMA Brig.
