ISLAMABAD: A small boy was died while more than 50 people were injured in different parts on the country due to heavy rain on Sunday.

Heavy rains occurred in Multan, Layyah, Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Shorkot, Mian Chunnu, Mansehra, Dera Ismail Khan, Zhob, Koh-e-Suleman, and border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

A boy was killed and 17 others injured after lightning struck Zhob. Heavy rains have continued since Saturday evening due to which the city’s storm drains have also been clogged.

Stormy winds wreaked havoc in many parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday, leaving at least two people dead and several others injured.

More than 100 houses and shops were also completely or partially damaged, officials said citing preliminary reports.

Mohammad Safeer, a burger joint owner, was inspecting his under-construction house in Gulshan Colony of Muzaffarabad when a concrete block, uprooted by the strong gusty winds, hit him in the head, killing him on the spot.

KHAR / LANDI KOTAL /PESHAWAR: At least 14 people were killed and 22 others injured as heavy downpour and windstorm lashed parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Saturday.

Officials of the Bajaur Agency administration said that nine people were killed and 13 others suffered injuries in incidents of wall and roof collapse after a windstorm hit the area in the evening.

PESHAWAR: Four people were killed and 32 suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kurram Agency on Tuesday.

Also, a hailstorm caused severe damages to crops and orchards in the region.

The local police said two people died and six were injured in Swat district in separate natural calamity-related incidents.

The 26-year-old widow had just lost her husband from sickness two days before the floods came. She then saw her house washed away in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam which has been particularly hard hit by the worst flooding to strike South Asia in more than a decade.

More than 40 million people have been affected by the seasonal monsoon floods that have swept through India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
