"Barometer" is a quarterly report published in Spanish and English by the Alert Unit at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona's School of Peace Culture. The report analyses the events that have occurred in the world over the course of the previous three months (January-March 2006) under nine main headings: conflicts, situations of tension, peace processes, post-war rehabilitation, humanitarian crises, militarization and disarmament, human rights and International Humanitarian Law, development and gender aspects in peace-building.

La production céréalière brute régionale, révisée en mars 2006, se chiffre à environ 14,868,300 tonnes au Sahel. Par rapport à la prévision de novembre 2005 une variation de -3 % a été enregistrée. Malgré cette révision, la production céréalière régionale 2005-2006 est en hausse de +31 % par rapport à celle de l'exercice 2004-2005 et de 24 % par rapport à la moyenne des cinq dernières années.

More than 20 countries are expected to receive assistance this year under the World Bank's global program for avian flu.

The funding program, approved by the Bank's Board of Directors earlier this year, allows for up to US$500 million to help countries deal with avian flu in animals while at the same time, preparing for a possible human pandemic.

In the latest moves, the Bank's Board has agreed (March 28) to make available $5.1 million to help finance avian flu prevention, preparedness, and response activities in Azerbaijan.
