Episcopal Relief & Development is responding to recent floods in Mozambique.

In early February, four days of heavy rains destroyed homes, farms and gardens in Niassa Province, with the Lago District the most seriously affected.

Today, February 14, upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (tents, blankets etc.) to Mozambique through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the damages caused by the torrential rainfall that occurred on January 13 (local time).

Between FY 2008 and FY 2017, USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) and USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (USAID/FFP) provided humanitarian assistance in response to a range of natural and man-made disasters.

(MAPUTO, January 18, 2018) - Following the devastating impact of Cyclone Dineo in February 2017, CARE in cooperation with the provincial government recently completed the rebuilding of 163 classrooms for more than 14,000 students. CARE also repaired nine of the most severely damaged health centers in Inhambane province, serving approximately 120,000 people.

Developed as an output of the 2012 GSC Meeting, the 2013-2017 Global Shelter Cluster Strategy was approved by the Strategic Advisory Group in early 2013. This Operations update seeks to provide an update of the activities conducted so far as well as to request of a 2-month extension with no budget changes for the DREF operation which will allow the CVM to complete the remaining procurement process for the replenishment of shelter kits which were distributed during the response. The rest of the activities have been implemented as planned.
