Mombasa, Kenya (PANA) - African education ministers kicked off a three-day meeting in Kenya's seaside resort of Mombasa Monday with a plea to the world's richest economies to dedicate at least one percent of their US$1.4 trillion military expenditure to help fight illiteracy in Africa, blamed for fueling conflicts.

Maputo, Mozambique (PANA) - Four people have died of cholera in the central Mozambican district of Mossurize, near the border with Zimbabwe, confirming fears that the disease that has ravaged Zimbabwe could spread to neighbouring countries.
The local media quoted the district administrator, Vasco Gaspar, as saying that the outbreak began on 4 December in the Macuo region in the frontier locality of Garagua.
So far, 20 cases have been reported, four of whom had died.

Maputo, Mozambique (PANA) - Mozambique requires at least US$71 million to repair the damage and assist people adversely affected by natural disasters brought by the rains this year, national news agency, AIM, reported here Monday.
The report said the figure disclosed at a meeting with foreign donors did not include the damage caused by Cyclone Favio that hit parts of Inhambane and Sofala provinces in late February.
