The Vice Premier of Taiwan, Ms. Yeh Chu-lan, announced Taiwan's pledge to donate US $50 million in aid to the most affected countries that were hardly hit by the recent earthquake and tsunami in South Asia. This assistance package will include food and medical supplies, as well as community-based reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. This amount is to be added to the estimated US $10 million that several Taiwanese charities, including various religious organizations, have already collected.
