Joint action for decent work andlong-term solutions for refugees and other forcibly displaced persons
The ILO, the UN agency for the world of work, and UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, are collaborating closely to address the challenges related to large scale displacement by making access to decent work and productive employment an essential component of sustainable response strategies for host communities, refugees, and other forcibly displaced persons.
These are a few examples of implementation of the Grand Bargain commitments by the Signatories at country level in 2018. The examples have been extracted from the Grand Bargain Annual Independent Report 2019 and are not exhaustive. They have been reported by the Signatories as their contributions to the Grand Bargain efforts.
ARMED CONFLICT WILL FUEL HUMANITARIAN CRISES IN 2020
The humanitarian outlook for 2020 and beyond forecasts a situation that is both complex and insecure, even as global development gains bring millions out of extreme poverty.
A record 168 million people worldwide will need humanitarian assistance and protection in 2020.
Protracted conflicts, extreme weather events and crumbling economies have pushed millions to the brink of survival.
Humanitarian organizations today present their plans for how to respond and what it will cost.
WFP Aviation: January to June 2019
During the first half of 2019, WFP Aviation supported humanitarian responses to some of the world’s direst emergencies, including Cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique, drought-affected Somalia, and the ongoing crises in Venezuela and Yemen.

A year has gone by since I began my mandate. I won´t lie to you, it has not been an easy task. We are facing difficult challenges. Not only must we tackle traditional human rights issues, but also an array of new ones, such as the new digital landscape, and privacy; or what I will be speaking about shortly: climate change, and its impact on the rights of every single one of us.
Le chef de l’humanitaire des Nations Unies, Mark Lowcock, a débloqué jeudi 75 millions de dollars du Fonds central d'intervention d'urgence (CERF) pour appuyer les interventions en réponse à huit situations d'urgence sous-financées.
Les pays couverts sont l’Afghanistan, le Bangladesh, le Burkina Faso, le Cameroun, l’Érythrée, le Mali, le Soudan, le Venezuela et la région voisine. En prenant en compte les 125 millions de dollars débloqués en avril, le CERF a alloué 200 millions de dollars cette année à des crises sous-financées.
(New York, 5 September 2019): Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock released today US$75 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to support responses to eight underfunded emergencies. The countries covered are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Eritrea, Mali, Sudan, and Venezuela and the neighbouring region. With $125 million released in April, the CERF has now allocated $200 million through its Underfunded Emergencies Window this year – the most in its history.

Cycle of inter-communal violence in Mali intensifies
At least 41 civilians were killed in attacks on the villages of Yoro and Gangafani 2 in the Mopti region of Mali on Monday, 17 June. According to reports, 100 armed men attacked the villages and began shooting civilians, targeting individuals from the ethnic Dogon community. There were also reports that armed men stopped civilian vehicles on nearby roads, separating out Dogon villagers and executing them. At the time of publication, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Fewer applications in April for the 10 main citizenships of origin, except for Turkish nationals.
In April 2019, more than 54 500 applications for international protection were lodged in the EU+. This was a slightly lower monthly total than in the previous month, but remained at a higher level than in the same month of 2018. Since the end of 2017, the monthly number of applications has been fluctuating between approximately 50 000 and 60 000, with no exception in April 2019.

03 March 2019: Update: In Butembo city, North Kivu province, an Ebola Treatment Centre that was attacked by unidentified perpetrators on 27 February 2019 has resumed operations after a temporary shutdown and is now managed by the Health Ministry in collaboration with WHO and UNICEF.
