Between 1 January and 31 August 2017, 13,227 unaccompanied and separated children arrived in Italy by sea, representing 13% of all sea arrivals in this period. This proportion is comparable to the first eight months of 2016, when 15% of those arriving by sea were UASC. However, consistent with a recent drop in sea arrivals, UASC numbers have also decreased compared to January-August 2016, when 16,863 UASC arrived.

Bamako, le 13 septembre 2017 – La République fédérale d’Allemagne renforce officiellement sa participation au Fonds Fiduciaire en Soutien à la Paix et la Sécurité au Mali avec une nouvelle contribution de 12 millions d’euros. Cet appui a été matérialisé au cours d’une cérémonie tenue le 13 septembre 2017, au Quartier Général de la MINUSMA. Ces fonds serviront à la réhabilitation de la piste principale de l’aéroport de la ville de Gao.

Insecurity in neighboring countries, notably Mali and Nigeria has led to displacement to Niger. In addition, the country is experiencing internal displacement of people due to armed attacks by insurgents that have been occurring in Diffa since Feb 2015

Around 60,000 refugees from Mali are receiving emergency food aid in four camps in north-western Niger. The aid is being distributed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the World Food Programme, thanks to support from partners including Switzerland. This will then develop into a targeted assistance programme in the autumn. Caroline Nanzer works for the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit and is supporting this transition. Report.
