• As of February 2018, some 49,771 people remain internally displaced in Mopti, Gao, Menaka and Timbuktu, representing an increase since December 2017, attributable to a resurgence in communal violence and armed conflict in northern Mali.

• The malnutrition situation in 2018 is likely to be worse than estimated at the end of 2017, with a projected 274,000 children at risk to face severe acute conditions. In January and February 2018, over 14,000 children were treated for severe acute malnutrition.

This is a marked deterioration from 2017. • The roll out of SCOPE, the beneficiary and transfer management platform, has started with 1,200 households.

• Preliminary results of the National Food and Nutrition Survey (ENSAN) 2017 indicate that one in four people are food insecure in Mali. The food security situation has particularly deteriorated in the conflict-affected regions of Kidal, Timbuktu and Mopti and remains high in Gao.

• Long-term collaboration in the field of social protection between WFP and the Ministry of Solidary and Humanitarian Action is now formalized with a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2017.
