More people have died delivering aid in Syria than anywhere else in 2017, an analysis by international aid organisation CARE Australia has found.

New figures reveal 80 aid workers have been killed this year, including 29 in Syria where there has been intense fighting since 2011.

“Syria is the most dangerous place on earth to be an aid worker,” said CARE Australia’s Gender in Emergencies Specialist Isadora Quay.

200 million people could be on the move due to climate change by 2050

Bonn, June 10th, 2009 - Unless aggressive measures are taken to halt global warming, the consequences for human migration and displacement could reach a scope and scale that vastly exceed anything that has occurred before. Climate change is already contributing to migration and displacement. All major estimates project that the trend will rise to tens of millions of migrants in coming years. Within the next few decades, the consequences of climate change for human security efforts could be devastating.
