This SitRep is produced by OCHA in collaboration with the humanitarian partners. It is issued by the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. It covers the period from 18 to 19 October.

I. HIGHLIGHTS

• El Salvador: The declaration of a State of Public Calamity and Disaster was extended for 60 more days.

• Guatemala: Eleven rivers are above the alert levels.

• Honduras: The state of emergency has been broadened to 10 more departments. The southern zone remains the most affected.

  • El Salvador: Extienden por 60 días la declaratoria de Estado de Calamidad Pública y Desastre.

  • Guatemala: Once ríos con crecimiento arriba de niveles de alerta. Nivel de saturación de agua en los suelos es considerable.

  • Honduras: Amplia estado de emergencia a 10 departamentos más. Zona sur sigue siendo la más afectada.

  • Nicaragua: Se esta movilizando un equipo UNDAC para apoyar en temas de evaluación de necesidades.

  • Intense rains caused by Tropical Depression 12-E caused floods, landslides and death, along with economic losses in Central America and Mexico

  • Near 570 thousand people affected by the rains in 7 countries.

  • El Salvador: rain levels are the highest registered in the last 50 years.

  • El Salvador: the government has launched an international assistance request.

  • Honduras: the main access road to Choluteca, in the Southern part of the country -the most affected zone- is interrupted.
