Desde el miércoles 29, y hasta este viernes 1 de diciembre, se llevan a cabo en Guayaquil, Ecuador, la XVI Reunión Anual del Grupo Asesor Internacional de Operaciones en Búsqueda y Rescate en las Américas (Insarag, por sus siglas en inglés) y la IV Reunión de Consulta sobre el Mecanismo de Cooperación para la Respuesta a Emergencias del Equipo de las Naciones Unidas para la Evaluación y Coordinación en Casos de Desastre (Undac), con la participación de funcionarios de la Secretaría de Emergencia Nacional (SEN).

The most vulnerable countries have been identified as Haiti, Guyana, Bolivia, Honduras and Guatemala. Projected variations in rainfall patterns will bring about changes in the water cycle, such as sudden floods, droughts and the consequent risk of forest fires.

North America

Heavy seasonal rains in Latin America and the Caribbean have triggered flooding and landslides throughout the region. Earthquakes in Guatemala and Ecuador have resulted in some damages and casualties, while a series of microquakes in El Salvador were reported on 30 June - authorities have been responding as needed.

Forecasters predict a 70 per cent likelihood of 11 to 17 named storms for the upcoming hurricane season, running from 1 June to 30 November.

Los terremotos en Guatemala y Ecuador resultaron en algunos daños y víctimas, mientras que una serie de micro-terremotos en El Salvador fueron reportados el 30 de junio - las autoridades han respondido según la necesidad.
