We have received reports that a field hospital in Al-Swani in Libya’s Tripoli District was hit by shelling today, injuring a doctor and two paramedics. Details of this incident are still being verified.

Two more ambulances were also hit this week, resulting in the complete destruction of one ambulance, though no casualties were reported.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

And from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the UN peacekeeping mission there (MONUSCO) reports that suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) elements launched an attack on Friday evening in the area of Boikene, close to Beni in North Kivu Province. One civilian was reportedly wounded, and two homes and a civilian vehicle were destroyed. A member of the Indian Formed Police Unit stationed there was also lightly wounded.

One year ago today, the Libyan Political Agreement was signed in Skhirat, Morocco, marking a critical milestone in the country’s democratic transition.

The Secretary-General commends all Libyans who engaged in the process, in the spirit of reconciliation, inclusion and human rights. The road to peace is long and requires hard work and commitment. Much has been achieved in the past year. The Presidency Council was formed and operates from Tripoli. Oil production has increased and significant advances have been made against terrorism across the country.
