Les Etats européens doivent intensifier leurs efforts pour protéger les enfants réfugiés et migrants qui ont non seulement enduré des voyages difficiles et dangereux, mais qui continuent à faire face à des risques et à des difficultés une fois en Europe, y compris un logement dangereux, un enregistrement incorrect en tant qu’adultes et un manque de soins appropriés, a exhorté le HCR, l’Agence des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés.

European States must step up their efforts to protect child refugees and migrants who have endured not only difficult and dangerous journeys but continue to face risks and hardship once in Europe, including unsafe accommodation, being incorrectly registered as adults, and a lack of appropriate care, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has urged.

The Global Humanitarian Overview published on 4 December 2018 announced funding requirements of $21.9 billion for 21 Humanitarian Response Plans (HRP) and the Venezuela Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan. By the end of September 2019, requirements had reached $26.75 billion. The change in requirements since last month is mainly due to an increase in requirements for Mozambique. As at the end of August, 148.7 million people are estimated to be in need in 58 countries. The plans aim to collectively provide aid to 109 million people.

A total of 66,268 migrants and refugees arrived in Europe through different land and sea routes between January and August 2019, 24 per cent less than the same period last year when 87,611 sea and land arrivals were reported, 50 per cent less than the 133,390 arrivals registered in this period of 2017 and 78 per cent less than the 296,512 registered during this period in 2016.
