Waiting in queue at the Misikhu clinic in Bungoma District, western Kenya, 27-year-old Catherine Mumaina tries to quiet her nine-month-old son, Arnold, who is wailing at the top of his lungs, and thumping on his mother's chest with his fists. "He has been like this all day. He does not want to breastfeed, and when he does, he vomits. He also has a high fever and he's irritable," she says. "Arnold is normally a very playful child, the malaria has really put him down," adds the concerned mother.

Kenya is going through another 'famine'. The Kenyan Media and Government have hyped up a large, public 'Save A Life' campaign, bolstered by sensational and distressing pictures of people living in the famine areas getting their skeletal frames up mountains of refuse to search for snippets of food. News stories of mass poisoning then reached the media followed by the inevitable 'who is to blame' rhetoric by the same media who started the campaigns.

Introduction
This is an initial report from the Tsunami Evaluation Coalition (TEC). The TEC is a collaborative effort by aid agencies (donor governments’ aid departments, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organisations, and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement) to improve humanitarian systems by learning from the response to the earthquake and tsunamis of 26 December 2004. Another aim of the TEC is to provide some accountability for the humanitarian system to both the giving and receiving publics.

MAU FOREST, Kenya, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Hundreds of Kenyan families were left homeless on Friday following a new wave of forced government evictions from an environmentally sensitive forest area, witnesses said.
