With CWS assistance, communities in Sabatia Division, Vihiga District, of Western Kenya are improving water quality through training, the capping of water springs, and the construction of public and school toilets.
The communities - home to some 6,400 people - are capping 40 natural springs - their primary source for water during both the dry and wet seasons - to protect them from contamination.

(New York, December 6, 2002) Kenyan police appear to be using the November 28 attacks on Israeli tourists in Mombasa to justify a crackdown on refugees living in Nairobi, Human Rights Watch said today. Since November 29, the police have conducted three large raids and dozens of arbitrary arrests against refugees from Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo in several neighborhoods of Nairobi.

Today, we launch a global campaign to assist more than 34 million people who face the very real risk of death by starvation. This crisis is compounded by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which is devastating the productive populations of many African countries.
