New UK aid package will help governments in developing countries stamp out corruption and improve accountability.

A new UK aid package will help governments in developing countries stamp out corruption and improve accountability, Minister of State for International Development Harriett Baldwin announced yesterday (Thursday 19 July).

14 Mar 2018 description

Overview

During 2017, almost 38,900 refugees were submitted by UNHCR for resettlement1 to 25 countries in Europe,2 36% more than during 2016 and over three times greater than the average rate of 12,400 submissions per year during the last decade.

The global burden of Improvised Explosive Devices

Iain Overton and Jennifer Dathan

Executive Summary

General Findings

  • The anticipated return of up to 250,000 Somali refugees from Kenya into southern Somalia in 2017 or later is not expected to trigger or exacerbate large-scale communal or political conflict in the short term. But in the longer term the return will intensify pressure on some very dangerous and unresolved faultlines in Somalia, related to land, identity, rights, and demography.
