Au Mali, le nombre d’individus observés aux 10 Points de suivi des flux en février 2018 était de 6 183 (2 636 entrants et 3 547 sortants). Le nombre moyen d’individu identifiés en février 2018 était de 221 personnes par jour, représentant une baisse de 7% par rapport au mois précédent. Les ressortissants maliens, guinéens, ivoiriens, sénégalais et gambiens représentaient 79% des migrants identifiés. 76% des migrants étaient des hommes et 10% d’entre eux étaient des mineurs (soit 2% de moins qu’en décembre).

A few days ago, we celebrated the centenary year of Nelson Mandela’s birth. We spoke of his example; his fortitude, his suffering and compassion, while recalling also the declaration that he and my predecessor Mary Robinson signed in 2000 on diversity and tolerance.

Abidjan, 16 November, 2017 - A newly released nutrition report by the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa has revealed that undernutrition is still persistent in the region and the number of stunted children has increased. The Africa Nutrition Report, launched today in Abidjan, Ivory Coast also indicates that a growing number of children under five years old are overweight.

Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) allow IOM to quantify and qualify migration flows, trends and routes et entry, transit or exit points. IOM has been carrying out flow monitoring of migrants at two points in the Agadey region of Niger. In August DTM identified 7,762 incoming and 5,016 outgoing migrants. The main change reported this month has been the closure of the border between Niger and Libya. This closure has made more difficult, and in some cases prevented, movements of passengers in the borders between Niger and Libya.

2016 was a challenging year for human rights and democracy, with a shrinking space for civil society and complex humanitarian and political crises emerging. Summary

During the reporting period, the United Nations Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa held two ministerial meetings. The forty-third meeting was held in Sao Tome from 28 November to 1 December 2016 and the forty-fourth meeting was held in Yaoundé from 29 May to 2 June 2017. Both meetings were organized by the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA), in its capacity as secretariat of the Committee.

IOM works with national and local authorities in order to gain better understanding of population movements throughout West and Central Africa. Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) allow IOM to quantify and qualify migration flows, trends, and routes, at entry, transit or exit points (such as border crossing posts, bus stations, rest areas, police checkpoints and reception centers). As of February 2016, IOM Niger has been carrying out flow monitoring of migrants at two points in Niger in the region of Agadez.

Switzerland – The UN Migration Agency (IOM) reports that 101,417 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2017 through 9 July, with almost 85 per cent arriving in Italy and the remainder divided between Greece, Cyprus and Spain. This compares with 239,492 arrivals across the region through 9 July 2016.
