The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 811th meeting held on 22 November 2018, adopted the following decision on the activities of the AU High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) for Sudan and South Sudan and the Horn of Africa:
Le Conseil de paix et de sécurité de l'Union africaine (UA), en sa 811ème réunion tenue le 22 novembre 2018, a adopté la décision qui suit sur les activités du Groupe de mise en œuvre de haut niveau de l'Union africaine (AUHIP) pour le Soudan, le Soudan du Sud et la Corne de l’Afrique:
ACCRA, Ghana, le 20 novembre 2018— La pratique du mariage d’enfants coûtera des dizaines de milliards de dollars aux pays africains, indique un nouveau rapport de la Banque mondiale publié à l’occasion du deuxième Sommet de la Commission de l’Union africaine pour mettre fin au mariage précoce qui se tiendra cette semaine au Ghana.
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), at its 810TH meeting held on 22 November 2018, adopted the following decision on the situation in the Horn of Africa:
Takes note of the briefings by Ambassador Smaïl Chergui, Commissioner for Peace and Security on the developments in the Horn of Africa, as well as the statements made by the representatives of the countries of the Horn of Africa, namely Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan;

Addis Ababa, 19 September 2018: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has received with utmost sadness and shock the news of the attack during the weekend against innocent civilians in the locality of Burayu, near Addis Ababa, in the course of which a number of people were killed and many others wounded and displaced.
Addis Ababa, 9 July 2018: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the Joint Declaration signed by President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed following the latter’s visit to Asmara on 8 and 9 July 2018. He commends the two leaders for choosing the courageous path of reconciliation, in the interest of their people, the region and Africa as a whole.

1. AFRICAN CONTINENTAL FREE TRADE AREA (AfCFTA)
• 49 of the 55 member states of the African Union (AU) have now signed the agreement establishing the AfCFTA. While six countries 6 have ratified the agreement
Addis Ababa, 23 June 2018: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has learned with shock and dismay of the attack that took place today during a rally in Addis Ababa in support of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s reform agenda and efforts. He strongly condemns this cowardly attack that cannot be justified under any circumstances.
Addis Ababa, 21 February 2018 - The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is closely following the situation in Ethiopia. He recalls, in this respect, that Ethiopia is not only home to the African Union Headquarters, but also an important member of the Union. As such, Ethiopia plays a key role in promoting regional peace and security, as well as in the pursuit of the continental agenda.
