  • According to the latest available statistics from IOM and the Djibouti government, 30,395 persons of mixed nationalities have arrived in Djibouti as of 27 November (since 26 March). Of those, 16,513 persons (54 per cent) are Yemeni nationals, 11,966 (39 per cent) are transiting migrants and 1,916 persons (6 per cent) are Djiboutian returnees.

  • UNHCR has set up 300 new refugee housing units in Markazi Camp to accommodate the new arrivals. Since 29 September and as of 08 November, 2,061 individuals have registered with UNHCR.

  • According to the latest available statistics from IOM and the Government of Djibouti, 30,004 persons of mixed nationalities have arrived in Djibouti as of 12 November (since 26 March). Of those, 16,194 persons (54 per cent) are Yemeni nationals, 11,902 (40 per cent) are transiting migrants and 1,908 persons (6 per cent) are Djiboutian returnees.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency 59.5 million people were forced to emigrate from their places of origin due to armed conflicts, persecution, widespread violence and human rights violations by the end of 2014.

  • UNHCR and ONARS (the government refugee agency) registered 209 new arrivals (62 families) on 29 September and 138 individuals on 30 September.

  • According to statistics from IOM and the Djiboutian government, 22,555 persons of mixed nationalities have arrived in Djibouti as of 11 August (since 26 March). Of those 10,402 persons (46%) are Yemeni nationals, 10,314 (46%) are transiting Third Country Nationals (TCNs) and 1,839 persons (8%) are Djiboutian returnees. Yemenis applying for asylum in Djibouti are hosted in the Markazi camp in Obock.

Somalia - De plus en plus de personnes fuient vers la corne de l’Afrique à mesure que le conflit au Yémen s’intensifie. Jusqu’ici, au total, 14 529 arrivées ont été enregistrées. Sur ce nombre, 9 703 sont arrivées à Djibouti et 4 826 en Somalie.

Pendant la première semaine de mai, la Somalie a accueilli 1 038 personnes, dont 969 Somaliens, qui sont arrivées aux ports de Bossaso et de Berbera. Le Puntland a enregistré 3 276 arrivées depuis mars, qui correspond au début de la crise au Yémen, et au Somaliland, 1 550 arrivées ont été enregistrées.

Somalia - More people are fleeing to the Horn of Africa as the conflict in Yemen escalates. So far a total of 14,529 arrivals have been registered. Of these 9,703 have arrived in Djibouti and 4,826 in Somalia.

In the first week of May, Somalia received 1,038 people, 969 of them Somalis, who arrived at the ports of Bossaso and Berbera. Puntland has registered 3,276 arrivals since March – the start of the crisis in Yemen – and in Somaliland the number has reached 1,550.

DJIBOUTI, 11 May 2015 – An integrated immunization campaign is underway to vaccinate 250,000 children aged nine months to 15 years against measles and 125,000 children aged 0 to 59 months against polio. The 6-59 months age group will also receive vitamin A Supplementation.

The campaign is being led by the Djibouti Ministry of Health in partnership with the Ministry of Education, supported by UNICEF, WHO, GAVI Alliance, the Measles and Rubella Initiative (M&RI) and the Government of Japan.
