Mixed migration trend report for september 2015 covering mixed migration events in:
ALGERIA,EGYPT, ETHIOPIA, LIBYA, MALI, MOROCCO, NIGER, SUDAN, TUNISIA, GREECE AND ITALY.

MHub works on behalf of the North Africa Mixed Migration Task Force consisting of DRC, IOM, OHCHR, RMMS and UNHCR. It promotes a human rights-based approach to ensuring the protection of people moving in mixed and complex flows to, through and from North Africa.

Highlights

  • 1059 migrants from 19 different countries have been repatriated since the outbreak of the crisis in July 2014, the majority of them via Tunisia or directly out of Tripoli. In 2015, 709 migrants have been supported by IOM Tripoli to travel back to their home countries so far.

  • Since July 2014, 7079 IDP families and 8762 migrants have benefitted from the distribution of NFIs and hygiene kits in different parts of Libya, including those 417 migrants, who have been rescued at sea by the Libyan Coast Guards on 28 and 29 September.

High Commissioner's Opening Statement to the 62nd Session of ExCom

GENEVA, 03 October, 2011– UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres warned today that an increasingly complex international environment is making it harder to find solutions for the world’s more than 43 million refugees, internally displaced and stateless people.

Speaking at the opening of the annual meeting in Geneva of UNHCR’s governing Executive Committee, Guterres said the international community needed to up its collective game to prevent conflict, to adapt to climate change and to better manage natural disasters.
