The latest update from the UNHCR reported about 112,000 displaced people who fled from the conflict in Dongo, North East DRC in the province of Equateur, 74,000 of these displaced people are in Congo. The Political situation in Guinea experienced some turbulence following the shooting of the country's President last week. Pandemic A (H1N1): As of 07th December 2009; Twenty nine (29) countries have reported confirmed cases with a total case load of 16,031 and 115 deaths.

La dernière mise à jour du HCR note environ 112 000 personnes déplacées qui ont fui le conflit de Dongo, au Nord est de la RDC dans la province de l'Equateur, dont 74 000 se trouve au Congo. La situation politique en Guinée a connu quelques turbulences suite à la tentative d'assassinat du Président de la République la semaine dernière. Pandémie A (H1N1): Vingt et neuf (29) pays sont toujours touchés dans notre Région avec un total de cas s'élevant à 16 031 et 115 décès au 07 décembre 2009.

The crisis in DRC has been aggravated in the past weeks by ethnic clashes in the northern Equateur province which have led to the displacement of more than 80,000 people, more than half of them in the neighbouring Republic of Congo.

Pandemic A (H1N1): Twenty nine (29) countries are now affected in our Region with a total case load of 15,887 and 108 deaths as of 30th November 2009.

At the end of September 2009, there were 10,188,709 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 10 out of 18 countries in the East and Central Africa region. This represents a net increase of 1,084,383 IDPs within the last six months.

Countries with ongoing massive internal displacements include the Democratic Republic of Congo (2.12 million), Sudan (4 million) and Somalia (1.55 million).
