Addis Ababa December 26/2018 The Embassy of Republic of Korea and voluntary Korean companies in Ethiopia have extended humanitarian assistance today.
The support was provided in cash, provision of services and supply of goods by the embassy and eight Korean companies operating in Ethiopia, it was learned.
Animal health emergencies continue to erupt around the world at an ever-increasing pace. Increased global travel, human migration and informal trade of animals and animal products continue to intensify the risk of disease spread. Infectious diseases and other animal health threats have the potential to move rapidly within a country or around the world leading to severe socio-economic and public health consequences. For zoonoses that develop the ability for human to human transmission, an early response to an animal health emergency could prevent the next pandemic.

NAIROBI – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) on Saturday 21 July welcomed an historic donation of 33,000 metric tons of rice from the Government of the Republic of Korea. This donation will enable WFP to provide food assistance to more than 1.5 million people, mostly refugees, living in Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda.

21 June 2018 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea announced today an additional USD$2 million to fund polio outbreak response and surveillance activities in the Horn of Africa. This commitment makes Korea the first country to support outbreak response efforts in the region, critical to protecting global progress toward ending polio.

ROME – Continuing its impressive progression from one-time recipient to major donor, the Government of the Republic of Korea today made a historic KRW 46 billion (US$42.5 million) contribution to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), its largest contribution to date. WFP will use the funds to purchase 50,000 metric tons of Korean rice and provide life-saving food assistance in Syria, Yemen, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda.

WMO report highlights impacts on human safety, well-being and environment
6 November 2017 (WMO) - It is very likely that 2017 will be one of the three hottest years on record, with many high-impact events including catastrophic hurricanes and floods, debilitating heatwaves and drought. Long-term indicators of climate change such as increasing carbon dioxide concentrations, sea level rise and ocean acidification continue unabated. Arctic sea ice coverage remains below average and previously stable Antarctic sea ice extent was at or near a record low.

On Monday 16 October 2017 the Council adopted the EU Annual Report on Human Rights And Democracy in the World in 2016.
2016 was a challenging year for human rights and democracy, with a shrinking space for civil society and complex humanitarian and political crises emerging. In this context, the European Union showed leadership and remained strongly committed to promote and protect human rights and democracy across the world.
Addis Ababa August 10/2017 The Republic of Korea announced additional one million USD to support humanitarian assistance in Ethiopia, its embassy in Addis Ababa said.
Of the total assistance, 400,000 USD will go to the Humanitarian Action for Children 2017 of UNICEF and 500,000 USD to the Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund (EHF) of OCHA.
The funding also contributes 100,000 USD to IOM to assist Ethiopian returnees from Saudi Arabia, the release that the embassy sent to ENA said.
