At the end of December 2018, 21 Humanitarian Response Plans (HRP) and the Syria Regional Response Plan (3RP) required US$24.93 billion to assist 97.9 million people in urgent need of humanitarian support. The requirements remained unchanged as of the end of November 2018. The plans are funded at $14.58 billion which amounts to 58.5 per cent of financial requirements for 2018. Notably, the percentage of total funding contributed through humanitarian response plans carried out by the UN with partners in 2018 is estimated at 62.9%.

GENEVA, Jan 19 2018 (IOM) - IOM, the UN Migration Agency, is appealing for nearly USD 1.4 billion to address the needs of over 80 million people in 50 countries in 2018. These vital funds will support people displaced within the borders of their own countries, migrants, refugees and the communities that host them, people returning to their areas of origin and people experiencing or recovering from conflict and natural disasters.

The line from the mountain spring to the village was broken and the water that ran through the channel was insufficient to reach the village in the fall. The number of people who have been displaced within their own countries as a result of armed conflict now stands at approximately 26 million. UNHCR, with its long record of protecting and assisting the displaced, is well positioned to support national and international responses towards internally displaced persons (IDPs). As of 2008, the Office was active in some 28 IDP operations involving approximately 14 million people.
