SITUATION. Une reproduction à petite échelle était en cours en Mauritanie, au Niger et au Tchad, et probablement aussi dans le nord du Mali. Une reproduction locale s'est poursuivie dans le centre de l'Algérie où des opérations de lutte limitées ont été réalisées.

The Desert Locust situation continued to remain calm during September
Small-scale breeding occurred throughout the month in parts of the northern Sahel between Mauritania and western Eritrea, but it was very difficult to detect during surveys as locust numbers remained extremely low and insignificant.

Heavy rainfall in previous weeks has resulted in overflowing of the Niger and Benue Rivers of Nigeria. Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast to continue, maintaining high risks for flooding.
Our analysis shows that millions of ‘people caught in crisis’ - people living in conflict, and/or who are displaced within their own countries or across borders – are in fact being left behind. Failure to take action now means that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will not be met, undermining the credibility of the international community and leaving millions to die unnecessarily.
Ethiopia made nine pledges to comprehensively respond to refugee needs and is formulating a National Comprehensive Refugee Response Strategy (NCRRS)

20 September 2018, Rome - Persistent conflicts and climate-related shocks are currently driving high levels of severe food insecurity, particularly in Southern African and Near East countries, which continue to require humanitarian assistance, according to a new report published by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) today.

The 2017 Sudan Participatory Assessment, conducted between October and December 2017, involved 6,009 Persons of Concern to UNHCR engaged through some 385 semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, individual interviews and participatory observation sessions. This assessment exercise was conducted by UNHCR in collaboration with partners, actively supported by the Government of Sudan, to engage refugees, asylum-seekers and refugee returnees – women, men, girls and boys of di fferent age, gender, nationality and ability – to identify their needs and examine ways to address them.

SITUATION. Une reproduction a petite echelle a eu lieu dans le centre de I'Algerie, cependant que des ailes Oars etaient presents dans le sud-est de la Mauritanie et rest du Tchad.
PREVISIONS. Une reproduction a petite echelle entrainera une legere augmentation des effectifs acridiens dans le Sahel septentrional de Mauritanie, du Mali, du Niger, du Tchad et du sud de I'Algerie. On ne s'attend a aucun developpement significatif.
REGION CENTRALE: CALME
This report provides United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members with an overview of the numbers of people in acute need of emergency food, nutrition and livelihood assistance in 22 countries/territories affected by conflict. It analyses the factors driving food insecurity and examines if those factors are a consequence of conflict and/or if they are driving further tension.

SITUATION. Des ailés isolés étaient présents dans le centre et l’est de l’Algérie.
PRÉVISIONS. Une reproduction à petite échelle aura lieu dans le Sahel septentrional de la Mauritanie, du Mali, du Niger, du Tchad et le sud de l’Algérie, et des larves en faibles effectifs apparaîtront. On ne s’attend à aucun développement signifi catif.
RÉGION CENTRALE: CALME
SITUATION. Des ailés isolés étaient présents à l’intérieur du Soudan.
CALM SITUATION. Isolated adults were present in central and eastern Algeria. FORECAST. Small-scale breeding will occur in the northern Sahel of Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and southern Algeria with very low numbers of hoppers appearing. No significant developments are likely.
