KHARTOUM, Dec 14 (Reuters) - An Ethiopian minister said on Monday he could see no early settlement of his country's border dispute with Eritrea, due to be discussed at an African summit conference this week.

"I am not optimistic because Eritrea believes force is the panacea for everything and I don't think it will accept the peace proposals of the OAU," Ethiopian Deputy Foreign Minister Tekeda Alemu told a news conference in Khartoum.

ADDIS ABABA, Dec 4 (Reuters) - U.S. envoy Anthony Lake arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Friday to continue his attempts to resolve a seven-month border dispute Ethiopia and Eritrea.

This visit is the third to the Horn of Africa by the former National Security Adviser in recent months.

Lake will hold talks with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin before leaving for the Eritrean capital Asmara on Sunday to meet top government officials there.

WASHINGTON -- Former National Security Adviser Anthony Lake will return to the Horn of Africa this week "as planned, to continue U.S. efforts to help find a peaceful solution to the dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia," State Department Spokesman James Rubin announced December 2.
