1. UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR/DHA REPRESENTATIVE INFORMS THAT FOLLOWING TORRENTIAL RAINS THE CITY OF DJIBOUTI (AT 80 PER CENT) AND ITS REGION ARE FLOODED. IT HAS BEEN SO FAR REPORTED THAT MORE THEN 100,000 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN AFFECTED AND THAT LOSSES, IN TERMS OF HUMAN LIVES, HAVE STILL TO BE VERIFIED.

2. HEAVY RAINS STARTED ON 6 APRIL FLOODING MOST OF THE COUNTRY AND CAPITAL. LEVEL OF WATER REACHED ONE METER IN MANY DISTRICTS OF DJIBOUTI TOWN. PRELIMINARY REPORTS INDICATE 150,000 PEOPLE AFFECTED.
