Entebbe, Uganda. Two more Air Serv flights have departed Entebbe for Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, providing support for response efforts to the recent Ebola outbreak. Bunia is located northeast of Mangina, initial site of the outbreak. Two Cessna Caravans departed the Air Serv hangar in Uganda on August 18, carrying two tons worth of medical supplies and cargo. The planes and crew spent approximately two hours offloading the critically needed cargo before refueling and returning to Entebbe.

Entebbe, Uganda. This week, Air Serv deployed an aircraft on its first mission responding to the most recent outbreak of Ebola virus in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to the World Health Organization, 41 people had died from the outbreak as of August 13. There have been 57 cases of hemorrhagic fever reported, with 30 confirmed and 27 probable.

Entebbe, Uganda. An Air Serv aircraft was involved in an incident upon takeoff from Kamonia, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on the afternoon of May 30, 2018. All onboard are safe, with no fatalities and no immediately reported injuries.

Entebbe, Uganda. Air Serv International has donated the use of one of its airplanes to assist Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in responding to an outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Logistical and transport costs are most often factored into program budgets for individual organizations and supplemented by funding from Air Serv International, grants, and private donors. Air Serv, as a humanitarian organization, collaborates with partner humanitarian organizations and when possible, donates services, personnel, and equipment.

ENTEBBE, UGANDA - Air Serv has placed an aircraft on standby for first responders to an outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The country’s health ministry released a statement on May 9th confirming a new outbreak of the virus in the province of Bikoro, located in the northwestern part of the country. Seventeen deaths have already been confirmed.

Entebbe, Uganda. Air Serv has deployed an aircraft to the Kasai Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in response to the cholera epidemic affecting the region. The aircraft, carrying a two pilot crew, departed Entebbe International Airport for Kananga on November 18 and will be supporting efforts by Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) to contain the outbreak.

Air Serv has deployed a start up team and Cessna Caravan to Kananga, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), to launch a new program in support of humanitarian organizations working in the region. July 10, 2017 saw the departure of the program’s first passenger flight.

July 31, 2017 will see the conclusion of Air Serv’s four year program in Bunia, DRC, which began July 2013 and operated a Cessna Caravan in support of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). The program’s closure is warranted by the combined efforts of Air Serv and MSF, which have resulted in the reduction of chronic health issues in the area requiring immediate attention.

Air Serv recently celebrated the grand opening of Hangar II, doubling its hangar capacity at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. With a 32m clear span and an 11m tail door, the new facility can accommodate aircraft as large as the Embraer 175. The roughly 1,900m2 structure also features six shops/storerooms on the hangar floor level, as well as six air conditioned offices and a conference room on the mezzanine level.

Warrenton, Va.- September 2, 2008 - An aircraft operated by a third party under contract to Air Serv International in the Democratic Republic of Congo, en route from Kisangani to Bukavu, failed to land at its scheduled arrival time Monday afternoon, September 1, 2008.

Search and rescue efforts were initiated early this morning and visual confirmation of the downed aircraft was made at 06:10z. The aircraft has been found on a steep ridge eight miles northwest of Bukavu. The aircraft was piloted by two crew members and carried 15 passengers.

Air Serv International announces the first flight of a Beechcraft 1900c with service from Kinshasa to Goma on October 31st 2007. This aircraft will be dedicated to the exclusive use and needs of the humanitarian and international community. The aircraft will be based at Kinshasa (Ndolo) airport. This is a 19 passenger aircraft with two pilots and can land on relatively short grass and rough runways so it is ideally made for the conditions encountered in this region.

WARRENTON, VA, OCTOBER 18, 2007 - Air Serv International has positioned an additional Cessna Caravan in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to help fight the recent outbreak of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in the country. The aircraft will be operating there for a period of two months, under a project funded by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The Caravan will shuttle between its base in Kananga and the towns of Luebo and Mweka in West Kasaï province, where the Ebola outbreak began in early September.

Warrenton, Va., Nov. 16,2004--Air Serv International will fly workers throughout the Congo Basin in support of a significant rehabilitation and development project in the five countries bordering the Congo River, as a result of a two-year $4.35 million contract with USAID.

The goal of the Congo Basin Initiative is to preserve the rain forests of this region, the last significant primitive rain forest on earth. It is also home to more than 24 million people, most of whom depend on the forest for their livelihoods. These livelihoods are under threat by the continued loss of the forest.
