CAIRO, Aug 31, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- African Union (AU) leaders urged member states which have pledged to contribute to the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia to honor their promises at a special summit in Libya on Monday.
The African leader also agreed that the war plaguing the restive western Sudanese region of Darfur was over, local sources said, citing the final declaration issued at the end of the one- day summit.

NAIROBI, Jun 23, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Thousands of refugees have turned up at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) offices in Nairobi to register themselves to beat the deadline set by Kenyan authorities.
The UNHCR spokesman Emmanuel Nyabera said between 4,000 to 5, 000 refugees from various parts of the continent living in Kenya turned up for registration on Wednesday, but the UN agency was able to register only 3,000.
He said many refugees turned up in the early hours in an attempt to beat the government's June 30 deadline for registration.
