Key Messages
- Rainfall was above average during September over much of Sudan, northeastern South Sudan, and the western and central highlands of Ethiopia, which has generally been the case since the start of the season in June. In Sudan, localized areas are expected to face below average production due to mid-season dryness and severe flooding, while Fall Armyworm remains a concern in some areas of Ethiopia.

Between 27 April and 25 September the number of suspected cholera cases has surpassed 738,700 including 2,118 associated deaths. The number of new cases per week at the country level has stabilised since the last week of August, but the waterborne disease continues to infect an estimated 5000 people per day. The five most affected governorates as of mid-September are al Hudaydah, Amanat al Asimah (Sana'a city), Hajjah, Amran, and Dhamar.

Dans la nuit du 24 août, des membres présumés de Boko Haram ont attaqué le village de Gakara, juste à la sortie de la ville de Kolofata, près de la frontière nigériane, tuant 15 personnes et en kidnappant 8 autres, selon une déclaration officielle le 25 août. Les assaillants ont incendié environ 30 maisons. Kolofata accueille de nombreux déplacés et la zone est devenue la cible d'attentats suicides fréquents, limitant ainsi l'accès à l'aide humanitaire.

15 KILLED AND 8 KIDNAPPED NEAR KOLOFATA

Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Gakara village just outside the town of Kolofata, near the Nigerian border, on the night of 24 August, killing 15 people and kidnapping 8 others, officials said on 25 August. The attackers burned down around 30 houses. Kolofata hosts a large displaced population but the area has become a frequent target of suicide bombings, thus constraining access to humanitarian aid.
