NAIROBI -- In remarks made during the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit, President Barack Obama announced that the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. government’s development finance institution, plans to join Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women and International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the Women Entrepreneurs Opportunity Facility (WEOF). As part of the planned commitment, OPIC intends to finance up to $100 million in new projects under the facility.
Testimony for U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee
Mr. Chairman. I would like to begin by thanking you and ranking member Senator Lugar for your initiative in bringing us together to address the issue of global violence against women, and for your continuing leadership on these issues. My testimony will focus on eliminating such violence by promoting protection and participation of women in the pursuit of peace.
For those of us who have spent decades working on issues of women's empowerment and protection in conflict situations, these are exciting times.

WASHINGTON, Dec.3, 2003 - Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman today announced plans for $115 million in foreign assistance under the U.S. Department of Agriculture's fiscal 2004 Food for Progress program. These allocations include donations for 22 developing countries in Africa, Asia (including Central Asia), Latin America and Eastern Europe.
