Investigate Murders of Civilians, Violence in and around Health Centers

(Nairobi) – Cameroonian soldiers, gendarmes, and members of the Rapid Intervention Brigade (BIR) carried out a deadly attack on the North-West region village of Meluf on April 4, 2019. Government forces killed five civilian men, including one with a mental disability, and wounded one woman. Three of the bodies were later found mutilated, including one that had been decapitated.

The Global Humanitarian Overview published on 4 December announced funding requirements of $21.9 billion for 21 Humanitarian Response Plans and the Venezuela Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMPP). By the end of February, requirements had reached $22.42 billion and as at 31 March the amount requested had risen to $25.11 billion.

Du 1 er janvier au 31 mars 2019, plus de 1 779 nouveaux arrivants ont été enregistrés au camp de Minawao.

En date du 31 mars 2019, la population totale du camp s’élève à 57 497 réfugiés nigérians. 61% de la population a moins de 18 ans et les femmes/filles représentent 53% de la population totale du camp.

Over 18,800 people have been displaced in March 2019 in Diffa region as a result of Boko Haram activities and attacks against civilians, adding to the 249,000 people previously displaced by the conflict, including 104,300 IDPs, 25,700 returnees and 118,900 refugees from Nigeria (UNHCR 26/03/2019, OCHA 04/04/2019).
