La Habana, 28 dic (ACN) Guatemala, Belice, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panamá y México acordaron hoy realizar un ejercicio piloto de traslado de personas como eventual solución al problema de los migrantes cubanos en suelo costarricense, reporta Prensa Latina.

El movimiento de este primer grupo de cubanos tendrá lugar en la primera semana de enero, según el comunicado final de la segunda reunión técnica de los países miembros del Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana (SICA), que sesionó en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Guatemala.

Drought conditions have affected many countries in southern Africa, including Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Mozambique due to the delayed start of season and erratic distribution of rainfall. Exacerbated by a poor performance during the previous season, the deficient rain has already significantly reduced water availability, leading to livestock deaths and poor ground conditions over many areas.

Caribbean CARICOM countries show progress in meeting global hunger targets, according to FAO report

Undernourishment in the Caribbean declined from 8.1 million in 1990-92 to 7.5 million in 2014-16. Three Caribbean Community countries – Barbados, Guyana and St Vincent and the Grenadines –met both the World Food Summit (WFS) hunger reduction goal set in 1996 and the hunger reduction target of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), agreed upon in 2000.

Belice se unió a Nicaragua y Guatemala y también negó el paso por su territorio a los casi 5.000 migrantes cubanos que están varados, desde noviembre, en la frontera norte del país.

“Han decidido que no es posible atender la solicitud costarricense, en virtud de que ellos consideran que debe tratarse únicamente dentro del marco regional, buscando soluciones regionales”, informó el canciller Manuel González.
