In July 2015, the Emergency Relief Coordinator set aside US$70.5 million from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for chronically underfunded aid operations to assist millions of people forced from their homes by violence and instability. The allocations from CERF’s Underfunded Emergencies Window, now totalling $168.9 million in 2015, are a last resort and present a life-line for some of the most vulnerable populations around the world in protracted and chronically underfunded crises.

But prices drop on expected slowdown in economic recovery

6 October 2011, Rome - Despite improved production prospects, world cereal markets are likely to remain fairly tight in 2011/2012, FAO said today.

FAO's quarterly Crop Prospects and Food Situation (CPFS) report published here forecast world cereal production will total 2 310 million tonnes this marketing season, 3 percent or 68 million tonnes higher than in 2010/11. This was 3 million tonnes more than FAO forecast last month, largely because of improved expectations for wheat and rice crops.

(New York: 17 July 2007): From getting medical treatment, building material and food to Afghan refugees to providing helicopters for distributing food in Sudan, the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) has given almost $201 million for life-saving aid activities in the first half of 2007. The largest amounts of rapid response funding from the CERF during this period went to Mozambique ($11.2 million), Guinea ($9.8 million) and Chad ($7.2 million).
