IOM works with national and local authorities in order to gain better understanding of population movements throughout West and Central Africa. Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) allow IOM to quantify and qualify migration flows, trends, and routes, at entry, transit or exit points (such as border crossing posts, bus stations, rest areas, police checkpoints and reception centers).

For each of these events, a brief description followed by public health measures implemented and an interpretation of the situation is provided.

The demographic dividend framework is in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063 and its’ ‘First Ten-Year Implementation Plan’ which together lay a strong foundation for the vision of African leaders in all facets of the continent’s development.

Près de 10.243 migrants sont arrivés en Europe par la mer depuis le début de l’année, a annoncé ce vendredi l’Organisation internationale pour les migrants (OIM), lors d’un point de presse à Genève.

Selon l’Agence des Nations Unies pour les migrations, à la même date en 2017, ils étaient 17.438 à avoir atteint les côtes européennes, alors qu’en 2016, ils étaient déjà 116.005, soit plus de 100.000 de plus qu’en 2018 et 2017.

Près de la moitié d’entre eux ont débarqué en Italie et le reste réparti de manière égale entre la Grèce et l’Espagne.

Geneva – IOM, the UN Migration Agency, reports that 10,243 migrants and refugees have entered Europe by sea through the first two months of 2018, with just over 50 per cent arriving in Italy and the remainder divided almost evenly between Greece and Spain. This compares with 17,438 arrivals across the region through the same period last year.

At this time in February 2016 there already were 116,005 arrivals – roughly 100,000 more than at this point this year and last.

Le Haut-Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés (HCR) œuvre avec les pays de la Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CEDEAO) pour mettre fin à l’apatridie dans la sous-région.

Il y a trois ans, les 15 Etats membres de la CEDEAO adoptait la Déclaration d’Abidjan sur l’éradication de l’apatridie. Un document contenant 26 engagements pour mettre fin à ce déni de nationalité dans la région ouest-africaine d’ici 2024.

Accra – IOM in collaboration with the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) this week launched a new Counter Migrant Smuggling National Action Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) on Information Sharing and Regional Cooperation. The launch was part of a reflection event to conclude IOM’s counter migrant smuggling project Addressing Counter-Smuggling and Protection Gaps in Ghana, Benin and Togo: Strengthening National and Regional Mechanisms. The project is funded by the Government of Canada through its Anti-Crime and Capacity Building Programme (ACCBP).

Les chiffres et infographies donnent un aperçu global sur le flux et le profil des individus observés au mois de décembre 2017 dans les différents points de suivi des mouvements de population.

En Guinée, cinq points de suivi ont été installés en fin mars 2017 dans les localités frontalières avec Mali dont trois sont actifs depuis septembre 2017. Il s’agit des localités de Kouremalé (moyenne de 100 individus par jour, a décembre), Boundoufourdou (moyenne de 408 individus par jour) et Nafadji (18 individus/jour) où l’on observe les mouvements des voyageurs en transit.
