In the bid to overcome the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV, informing people of their rights and giving them the means to access these rights is a genuine game changer.

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) has signed new public sector loan and grant agreements totaling over US$60m to help boost socio-economic development in nine partner countries. The agreements were signed by OFID Director-General Suleiman J Al-Herbish and high-ranking officials of the beneficiary countries, including HE Amara M. Konneh, Minister, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning of Liberia; and HE Mubin Mirzaev, Deputy Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan.

Meeting in its 146th Session, the Governing Board of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) has approved financing of nearly US$264 million to boost socio-economic development in over 30 partner countries. Of the new commitments, over US$193m will support 10 public sector loans and nine grants. The bulk of the public sector funding will co-finance agriculture, transportation, education, energy, health and water supply and sanitation projects.
Vienna, Austria, June 17, 2013. The Governing Board of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), meeting in its 143rd Session on June 13, has approved 17 loans and grants totaling over US$234 million to boost socio-economic development in over 44 partner countries. The majority of the public sector funding will co-finance transportation, energy and water supply and sanitation projects.

OFID loan to upgrade the Kandi-Segbana-Nigeria Border Road
The Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), Mr. Suleiman J. Al-Herbish and H.E. Mr. Séraphin Lissassi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Benin to the United Nations in Geneva, today initialled an US$11 million public sector loan agreement for the rehabilitation of a vital road in the northern part of Benin.
The Kandi-Segbana-Nigeria Border Road links the town of Kandi to the Nigerian Border via the village of Segbana over a distance of almost 120km.
54/2005 April 26, 2005, Vienna, Austria - The OPEC Fund for International Development today signed three grant agreements, totaling US$4.2 million, with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The US$3.5 million grant to WHO will co-finance a joint OPEC Fund/WHO Project on Integrating HIV/AIDS Treatment in Health Systems in Africa. Participating countries are Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and Lesotho.
