Food for Progress Program: Fiscal Year 2015

Tchad (Français)

Le 24 août 2014, une femme de 37 ans a été conduite d’urgence dans le centre de santé de Bipare dans le district de Léré suite à des diarrhées et vomissements. Ses enfants ont été admis par la suite avec les mêmes symptômes. Les tests rapides cholera sur 13 parents se sont révélés positifs. Le 01 septembre 2014, le laboratoire de référence nationale a isolé le choléra dans 10 échantillons.

Scope of floods

This year, floods have affected around 800,000 people in 13 countries in West Africa (Mali, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, The Gambia, Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, Sierra Leone, Benin and Ghana)(1) . The situation is especially worrisome in the following countries: Ghana (over 330,000 affected), Togo (over 120,000 affected), Burkina Faso (over 92,900 affected) and Mali (over 42,000 affected).

NEW YORK, 25 September 2007 - Four weeks of heavy flooding have taken a damaging toll on countries in West and Central Africa, with hundreds of thousands of people displaced, several hundred killed, and homes and farmland swept away.

UNICEF teams have been effective in distributing immediate emergency supplies such as water-purification tablets and essential medicines to affected areas, but the size of the disaster and its length make it an exceptionally difficult emergency to address.
