AFGHANISTAN - Assistance for Internally Displaced Persons - Three year after the fall of the Taleban, IOM Afghanistan continues providing assistance to Internally Displaced People (IDPs) returning to their places of origin or chosen areas of settlement from the five remaining IDP camps or from settlements located in different parts of the country.
In the past three years IOM has assisted 360,000 Afghan IDPs to return to their homes.
So far this year, some 20,000 IDPs have received IOM assistance.

Angola - Return and Reintegration Programme Receives New Backing
Chevron Texaco Angola is contributing US$250,000 towards IOM's ongoing Return, Reinsertion and Reintegration (RRR) programme in the Eastern Moxico province.

HAITI - Assistance to Victims of Tropical Storm Jeanne - The IOM office in Port au Prince is working with the Haitian Ministry of Public Works (TPTC) to provide clean water and assistance to the victims of Tropical Storm Jeanne in Gonaives.
IOM and the TPTC are implementing a three-part plan designed to address the immediate needs of the victims and to build the government's capacity to respond to future emergencies.
Phase one, already underway, is supplying materials to the TPTC to allow its trucks to transport drinking water to affected areas.

SUDAN - Director General Visit - IOM Director General Brunson McKinley is today travelling to Khartoum for an official visit to the Republic of the Sudan.
During his visit, McKinley will sign an agreement to oversee and assist in the safe and voluntary return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Darfur.
