Mbanza Kongo - At least 170 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were repatriated last weekend by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in northern Zaire province for illegal stay in Angola.

The mentioned foreigners entered the national territory by clandestine routes, escaping the control of Border Guard Police personnel assigned along the border perimeter, said the third deputy head of migration of provincial department of SME, João Lourenço Júnior.

WaPOR: database dissemination portal and APIs

The FAO portal to monitor Water Productivity through Open access of Remotely sensed derived data (WaPOR) monitors and reports on agriculture water productivity over Africa and the Near East.

It provides open access to the water productivity database and its thousands of underlying map layers, it allows for direct data queries, time series analyses, area statistics and data download of key variables associated to water and land productivity assessments.

  • Water trucking in Lóvua finishes at the end of May. The first of six boreholes to be drilled, finally reached water at 138 metres.

  • Current Communicating with Communities interventions for the DRC refugees aim to build the capacity of leaders on key family competencies, conflict resolution and service management.

  • Due to the expansion of Lóvua, many villages in the settlement are located far from the existing health centre. Another clinic will be built to improve the services delivery.

Huambo - Angolan Government has vowed to reduce the risk of introducing Ebola virus into the country from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

This was confirmed Wednesday by minister of Health Sílvia Lutukuta, who alluded to the country’s reviving emergency and multi-sector contingency plan.

Sílvia Lutukuta was speaking at the opening session of the 28th Consultative Council of the sector, held in central Huambo province.

1. Situation update

The outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is still active. On 27 May 2018, one new suspected EVD case was reported in Wangata. Three laboratory specimens from suspected cases reported previously in Iboko (1), Ntondo (1) and Wangata (1) health zones have tested negative (noncases). There were no new confirmed cases and deaths.

Caxito - Some 14, 796 unexploded ordnance were destroyed Friday in Icau locality, Dande municipality (northern Bengo province).

This is part of the ongoing demining process in the country, the head of operations of the National Demining Institute (INAD) in Bengo, Paulo Canganjo, told the press.

Several metals, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, were among the devices destroyed by INAD.
