Uige - At least 109 families were displaced in the Ambuila district, 90 kilometres of north of Uíge city, following of destruction of their homes caused by rain that hit the region on Monday morning, Angop learnt on Tuesday from a source of the local administration.
According to the source, the rain destroyed one school, 18 residences, two churches and other social infra-structures.
Luanda - The ambassador of Norway in Angola, Jon Vea, Monday signed in Luanda, an agreement with the Norway People Aid (APN) for the continuation of demining actions in Angola.
According to a communiqué issued by the Norwegian embassy, delivered to Angop, the contract is estimated at USD 3.5 million and was signed by APN's regional director, Âage Skagestad.
The note refers that Norway funds demining operation in Angola, through APN, since 1995, having granted to this non-governmental organisation about USD 35 million.
Katchiungo - About 50 families of Salupembe, Vintecente and Caputa wards, 62 kilometres east of Huambo city were made homeless as a result of the windy rain that fell in the region last Tuesday.
According to a traditional authority of the district, Albino Malengue, the rain destroyed 50 residences and did not claim any human life.

Mbanza Kongo - One hundred and 53 people passed away, during the first half of this year, in the northern Zaire province, victims of malaria, out of the 35,733 cases registered in the whole region, informed this Tuesday, in Mbanza Kongo city, provincial capital, the local health director, Mariano Gaspar.

Luanda - At least Usd 32 million have been released by Angola Global Fund to fight malaria in two years time.
This is under an agreement signed by the Health minister, José Van-Dúnem, and the chairman of Angola Global Fund Coordination Mechanism, Carlos Alberto.

Cabinda - The governor of the northern Cabinda Province, Anibal Rocha, on Sunday laid the first stone for the building of a water extraction, treatment and supply system in the surroundings of the province, ANGOP has learnt.
The works are worth about USD 900.000 and are to last six months, divided into three stages.
