The Joint Assessment Mission (JAM) conducted in September 2012 aimed at obtaining a better understanding of the situation, needs, risks, capacities and vulnerabilities of refugees in Malawi with regard to food, livelihood, their nutritional/health situation and related matters. The current programme is coming to an end, and this JAM Report aims to provide information for further assistance through the design of a new programme cycle for both WFP (the PRRO) and UNHCR. The last JAM was carried out in 2009 in coordination with the GoM and other stakeholders.

Malanje - Family poultry farming projects being implemented on Pedras Negras, Pungo a Ndongo and other farms situated in the localities of Kizenga (municipality of Cacuso), northern Malanje province, will help reduce the import of foodstuffs and services in the country.

This was said Friday in Malanje by the minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Pedro Canga, as part of a visit he paid to the construction, planning and implementation of the said agro-farming projects.

Ondjiva - A total of 114 houses were handed over Wednesday to families affected by the floods in Onahumba neighbourhood, outskirst of Ondjiva city, southern Cunene province, during a ceremony chaired by the provincial governor, António Didalelwa.

The residential area is also equipped with health, education and public safety services to benefit 114 families who were in the sheltering centre number 1 and 2.

MADAGASCAR:
A mutiny by a group of military personnel occured in the early hours of 22nd July 2012 at a camp near the Antananarivo airport.

ANGOLA:
An estimated 366,780 households (1,833,900 people) are expected to be affected by drought, and an estimated 533,000 children under age 5 could be affected by various levels of malnutrition.

Luanda – One Hundred and nine families who had been living in tents for nearly six years in the Sapu neighbourhood, Bela district, in Luanda, received Saturday their own houses in Zango IV, in Viana district, under the resettlement programme of populations.

The families, mostly coming from Kilamba Kiaxi, had been victim of the rains that ravaged the population living in areas considered at risk in 2005.

Ondjiva - At least 187 flood victim families in southern Cunene province previously squatting at sheltering centres were on Thursday provided with new houses on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Ondjiva, during a ceremony chaired by the provincial governor, Antonio Didalelwa.

Addressing the occasion, the provincial governor said the drama of hundreds of families affected by floods that hit Cunene in the last four years has come to an end.

According to him, today there is reason for joy and reward after the time they had to await accommodation.
