NEW YORK, United Nations (PANA,
12/24/98) - Amid intensified fighting between the Angolan government
forces and UNITA rebels, the UN Security Council Wednesday demanded for
immediate end to hostilities in the country.
The Council, which has met twice in the month on the deteriorating situation in Angola, reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the country's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (PANA) - Zimbabwean's
peace-keeping forces serving in angola returned home on Sunday after
completing their tour of duty.
The three companies of nearly 450 men flew from diamond-rich northeastern Angolan town of Saurimo straight to Harare.

LUANDA, Angola (PANA) - The Angolan government
says it is deporting 40 illegal immigrants from the Democratic Republic
of Congo, according to the official news agency (Angop).
The agency quoted the immigration services of the Caculama municipal council in the northern province of Malanje, as saying Thursday the immigrants, who were arrested in the streets of the town, entered the country without relevant immigration papers.
