According to a source at the presidency, Gbagbo called for donations in cash, food, clothes and other materials to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in that country.

These donations will be collected within the premises of Abidjan's defunct stabilisation fund and in the country's prefectures and sub-prefectures.

A bank account has also been opened to that effect, the presidential source said.

Huambo, Angola (PANA) - At least three Angolan children die daily in Galanga in the district of Londumbali for want of food and medicines, the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP) cited official sources as conceding Tuesday.
The sources were quoted as affirming that some 50 children have died in the last two weeks, adding that several humanitarian organisations were making relief arrangements for more than 10,000 people living in the area.

The situation was equally preoccupying at Bimbi in Bailundo district, where seven children reportedly die every day.
