Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights has considered the combined initial to third periodic reports of Angola on how that country is implementing the provisions of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
George Rebelo Chicoty, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola, in his opening statement, said Angola had introduced the provisions of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights into its national law.

Huambo - At least 2,627 new classrooms have been built and equipped since 2002 by the Government of central Huambo province, to the benefit of about 3.5 million students attending lessons in two shifts.

Luanda, 05/27 - About forty former soldiers will finish on Wednesday courses on plumbing and electricity, in the integrated centre of employment and professional training of Kilamba Kiaxi Municipality.
The training programme, inserted in the project dubbed 'We are with you', started last February, under an initiative of the Institute for Social Reintegration of former Soldiers (IRSEM).

Rome, 16 April 2008 - A new project in Angola will increase incomes of rural smallholders in the provinces of Bié, Huambo and Malanje by improving agricultural productivity and revitalizing markets.
The US$49.5 million Market-oriented Smallholder Agriculture Project will be partly financed by an IFAD loan of US$8.2 million. The loan agreement was signed today at IFAD headquarters by Angola's Ambassador to Italy, Manuel Pedro Pacavira, and IFAD's President, Lennart Båge.
