Le retrait de la mission militaire angolaise – déployée depuis 2011 en Guinée-Bissau pour aider le gouvernement à mettre en œuvre une réforme des forces armées et former les agents du corps de police – a commencé ce jeudi.

Selon des sources locales de la MISNA, le déploiement du contingent angolais aurait dû contribuer à accroître les pouvoirs de la police, au détriment de l’armée, trop présente dans les affaires politiques du pays.

9 November 2011 – The Deputy of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Guinea-Bissau, Gana Fofang, and Angolan secretary of State for External relations, Manuel Augusto, today met in Bissau to discuss their cooperation for Guinea-Bissau.

“The meeting aimed to exchange ideas with UNIOGBIS leadership, assess the current situation and discuss future actions in order to respect the calendar of activities implementation”, the Angolan Secretary of State said.
