It was a gathering of the most powerful organizations in the global fight against malaria in one of the most powerful places in the world.
And Christian Children's Fund (CCF) was among those invited to the White House on Wednesday for Malaria Awareness Day.
The Vice President for Global Programs at CCF, Michelle Poulton visited the White House on the organization's behalf for a key event in President Bush's efforts to fight malaria.
Poulton attended the luncheon in the White House Rose Garden for Malaria Awareness Day in …
In Angola, children are also at a high risk for ARI. Thanks to the work of CCF and generous donors to the Sky Siegfried Fund, Village Pharmacies are available in many communities in Angola.
The recent end to hostilities in Angola,
after 35 years of violence, has allowed CCF staff to begin to enter previously
restricted areas and assess the need for relief.
Christian Children's Fund has been working in Angola since 1994. Our team is now working in the quartering area (the areas which the military has set aside for settling former UNITA rebel soldiers) in the area of Bocoio in Benguela Province.
What they are finding is truly horrifying.
CCF started working with the children and families of Angola in 1994: working on community reintegration programs, life skills training, bringing orphaned, displaced and emotionally troubled children together with supportive families and communities, training child caregivers to better understand the impact of war on children and developing services for children that promote emotional healing. The CCF Mine Awareness and Education for Communities program teaches participants how to recognize landmines, mark the area and notify authorities.
CCF believes that the situation in Angola has begun to stabilize in the western part of the country and we are now implementing the community development structure of sponsorship there. Sponsor an Angolan child.
Since winning its independence from Portugal
in 1975, Angola has been plagued by civil war and internal conflict. Poverty

Four decades of bloody civil war in Angola
have left deep psychological scars, especially on the children. Through
its innovative community reintegration program in Angola, CCF brings orphaned,
displaced and emotionally troubled children together with supportive families
and communities. CCF has trained 5,000 child caregivers to better understand
the impact of war on children and has also developed services for children
that promote emotional healing.
