KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 20) - Polish and U.S. soldiers from the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team delivered school supplies and furniture to the Touheed Abud School October 13.

The school was in need of supplies and repair after hit by an insurgent rocket in May.

KABUL, Afghanistan (July 30) - Afghan and coalition members from the Combined Air Power Transition Force (CAPTF) teamed up Wednesday and Thursday to rescue more than 2,000 Afghan citizens from flooding in the Nangahar and Kunar provinces.

The mostly Afghan crew, led by Kabul Air Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Mohammad Barat, utilized just two Afghan Air Force Mi-17 helicopters over a 33 and half hour period.

"The rescue effort started west of Jalalabad, moving 50 people stranded by flooding to high ground.

Kandahar, Afghanistan- Soldiers from Task Force Cyclone and the Joint Sustainment Command-Afghanistan quickly coordinated relief efforts as lethal avalanche paralyzed highways and left Afghan people trapped throughout the craggy mountains of the Hindu Kush early in the morning on February 9th.

Lt. Col. Greg Estes, the JSC-A humanitarian assistance officer received news of the avalanches shortly after they occurred. He said he received a telephone call from LT. Col. Erin Conn, the civil affairs officer with TF Cyclone, who requested assistance.

KABUL, Afghanistan - The commander of the International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) Feyzabad Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), Colonel Peter Utsch, and the medical company commander, Major Ludger G., presented an auxiliary power unit to the gynaecological clinic of Feyzabad Provincial Hospital, on 11 April.

On a daily basis, the physicians at Feyzabad hospital treat patients with diverse injuries and illnesses.

On 2nd April 2009, an Agreement was signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and NATO to allow for transit of goods, through the territory of the Republic of Ukraine, in support of the ISAF Operation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The Exchange of Letters has been signed by the Head of Mission of Ukraine to NATO, on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Secretary General on behalf of the Alliance.

This Agreement is a key step in facilitating land transit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through the so-called Northern route.

In 2008, the United Nations-mandated International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), led by NATO, continued to support the nascent Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in the provision of security throughout the country. The overall security picture in 2008 was mixed. Violence rose sharply in parts of the South, South-East and South-West, leading to a significant overall increase in casualties from 2007. However, large parts of the North, Centre and West of the country continued to be relatively stable.

KABUL, Afghanistan - The Zabul provincial governor ended months of waiting when his government obtained two armoured sport utility vehicles, 3 August

ISAF's Zabul Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) delivered the new vehicles to Governor Delbar Jan Arman and the Zabul Provincial Development Committee. The vehicles reduce the government's reliance on military forces to transport provincial officials to different locations within the province.

KHOWST, Afghanistan (June 27) - In two separate incidents recently, the people of Andar district, Ghazni province, have suffered at the hands of Taliban extremists.

One incident was the destruction of humanitarian aid and the other was an improvised explosive device attack. Both incidents are under investigation by the ANSF and ISAF.

Villagers reported that insurgents stole and burned humanitarian aid belonging to the people of Gongay after it was delivered to them June 19 by the Afghan National Army.

KABUL, Afghanistan - Following the recent flooding in central and eastern Afghanistan, the Government of Afghanistan requested help for ISAF forces to evacuate people from affected areas. ISAF helicopters from Task Force Iron Grey, based at Bagram Airfield, and helicopters from the Methar Lam Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) were called in to deliver humanitarian aid for distribution by the Red Crescent.
